Frequently Asked Questions for Hiring Nefabit, Professional Bellydancer
When should I book my show?
The sooner, the better! Weekends and holidays usually often book up weeks or months in advance. I can sometimes work shows in at the last minute. If I have to squeeze it between other gigs, a small rush fee may apply. If I am not available, I can set you up with one of the other fabulous dancers from Northwest Bellydance.
What can I expect?
First and foremost, you can expect a fun, exciting, family friendly act that will delight your guests. I’ve been dancing professionally for almost 10 years, and studying dance for over 20. You can expect high-quality dance AND a seasoned entertainer.
My shows will include a show-stopping entrance to dazzle your audience, and depending on the length of the show may include a mysterious veil or taqsim, daring sword or candle tray balancing, exciting drum solo, and of course, audience participation. Dancing with your guests is my favorite part! I’ll get everyone involved, up and dancing, taking pictures, and laughing.
Is your show family friendly?
YES, I love kids, and kids love bellydance! My shows are 100% family friendly. If you prefer, you

may request a more modest costume. I have mesh body stockings I can wear with my costumes to cover stomach and/or arms, or you can opt for a traditional beladi dress. My costume closet is always rotating, so you can request that I send pictures of current options.
Is it Appropriate to Tip?
Yes, and this is part of the fun! In many cultures in the Middle East, it is considered a show of status to tip the dancer. I ask that the host demonstrate during the audience participation set. I prefer the practice of “fanning” or tossing the money over the dancer. At the end, the money is gathered or swept up and brought to the dressing room. It may be useful to designate someone to assist with this, since your duties as host extraordinaire will have you busy!
What kind of setup is required?
I will need a decent floor space to dance! A small rented stage is better, so your guests can see the entertainment you hired. For bellygrams, I can dance through the crowd or tables without a performance area, but other shows will require some room! The floor must be clear or debris. If I am using a large prop like Isis wings or a sword, a larger space with overhead clearance is required. I will also need a secure, private dressing room to change in and out of my costume.
In most cases, it is your responsibility to provide an appropriate sound system that can play an iPod or CD. If this is not possible, I can provide one – this requires extra setup time and usually requires that I arrive before the party starts. This may incur an extra fee!
Do you offer discounts?
There are a few ways you can save money. If you are booking for an association or club, and you can call leaders of other chapters to hire me as well, I can give you both a small discount.
I will consider negotiating my fee if we can do partial trade for something useful, such as advertising in a paper or magazine, free oil changes for a year, or something like that. Don’t be afraid to ask, but please be respectful in your suggestions.
I value repeat business! If you have booked with me before, I will give you a special deal on your second show.
Once in a while, I run special deals. Follow my Facebook page or newsletter to get in on these exclusive offers!
